A sweet and fruity potion that will rescue you from the heat of the summer sun.
As a child, my family spent a few years living in Georgia, not too far from the Florida border. The summers were hot and sticky. Mowing the lawn was like pushing a car through a swamp. When the wind was blowing in the right direction, everyone in our neighborhood would get a snootful of the odors from the papermill that was a few hours away. Snakes were fairly abundant, and on really muggy nights every window in the house was covered in loud, little frogs.
And then there were the peaches. Speaking from experience, if you’re a fan of the fruit, you really haven’t had a real one until you’ve chomped down on a juicy Georgia peach. Perfect texture, the right amount of sweet… If you ever find yourself in the Peach State, don’t leave without grabbing a few crates to bring home with you, if you can. They make an amazing margarita.
It’s hot today in Los Angeles. And when the heat gets this high, I’m reminded of those summers in the south, and those sweet Georgia peaches. On days like today, a margarita always hits the spot. The cocktail we’ll be making combines both of these things for a perfect poolside treat, the Peach Margarita. And it’s simpler than you think. Probably the most involved part is puréeing your ripened fruit before shaking everything up over ice.
Before you know it, you’ll be in the pool on a lounger, or sitting in the shade of an airy cabana while slowly enjoying your new favorite fruity drink. Peaches, tequila and everything else… this is exactly what you needed today.
What is the Best Tequila to Use in a Peach Margarita?
For any margarita, I usually prefer a silver, or blanco, tequila. The clear spirit mixes well with the other ingredients, providing a perfect balance of flavors and allowing the peach purée to take center stage. If you want a sipper that’s a little spicier, you can use a reposado or añejo tequila for more aged and complex notes.
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup peach purée from about 1 medium ripe peach
- 2 ounces silver tequila

FAQs & Tips
You can serve your cocktail in a rocks or margarita glass. Salt the rim, fill with ice, pour it and pop a peach slice or lime wheel on top.
You can combine your ingredients together and store in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days. Just shake individual servings over ice when you’re ready to pour.
This decadent drink is indulgent indeed, with each serving at around 316 calories.
You can swap out the orange liqueur with the schnapps for a peachier taste, but avoid replacing the purée with it. You’ll want to keep the fruit for a sweet, lush flavor and consistency.
