“Never let anyone treat you like a yellow Starburst, you are a pink Starburst” – Paris Hilton

Like the iPod, Britney Spears, baby tees, and burned CDs, this tasty Pink Starburst Shot was made in the 2000s. The pink, fruity shot was popular among college kids and likely created by some chic, playful sorority sisters. Made with just three ingredients and garnished with a pink Starburst, this tiny beverage is simple, but so fun.

I am proud to admit that I was too young to drink in the early 2000s (even though I may have snuck a couple sips at house parties). While I was not in college at the time of the Pink Starburst craze, I am familiar with the shot. Working as a bartender in Manhattan, New York and Las Vegas, this is the ultimate girly-girl shot. If you want to bring the wow with a signature drink for a bachelorette party or girls’ night, the Pink Starburst shot is perfect.

Out of all the Starburst flavors, pink is by far the most popular and delicious. If we’re talking about the original pack, pink is strawberry, but there are also other pinks and shades of red that can be found in the tropical and Fave-Reds, which include watermelon and strawberry-banana. The Pink Starburst shot tastes like a combo of the OG strawberry and watermelon candies and is just as juicy.

Make The Pink Starburst Shot The Star Of The Party

A few things make a party memorable: the food, drinks, décor, guests, and favors. Lucky for us, the Pink Starburst Shot checks a few of these boxes, you basically just need to invite your friends. Using a pretty crystal or silver platter, a tiered tray, or a cake stand, arrange the shots on a table for some eye-catching décor. Take it a step further and personalize some shot glasses for your besties to bring home after shooting their shot.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A Pink Starburst Shot?

My top choices for the vanilla vodka are Grey Goose La Vanille or Stoli Vanilla. Grey Goose is a bit higher-end and won’t burn like less expensive vodka, but at $35 it also won’t break the bank. It is made with Madagascar vanilla beans, so there is no artificial vanilla taste. The burst of flavor in the Pink Starburst Shot comes from watermelon schnapps. Go for DeKuyper Pucker Watermelon, usually referred to simply as Watermelon Pucker. This schnapps is sweet with a bit of zing and the prettiest shade of Barbie pink.

What Glassware And Garnish To Use?

Serve your Pink Starburst Shots in shot glasses rimmed with pink sanding sugar. Garnish with a pink Starburst either directly on the rim of the glass or with a toothpick pierced through.

What Sweet And Sour Mix Should I Use?

Personally, I do not like the taste of store-bought sour mix, so I make my own by combining lemon and lime juice with water and simple syrup. There is no chemical taste and it is super simple.

Similar Drinks to the Pink Starburst Shot

Throwing back shots as unforgettable as the Pink Starburst is a fun way to get the party going. They are perfect for those borderline non-drinkers, who can’t stomach straight tequila but they are still strong enough for the rest of us. If you have a sweet tooth and candy is your thing, try these other tasty drinks from Twist and Toast.

  • Gummy Bear Shot – Get the nostalgia of childhood with an adult edge with these fruity, candy-like shots.
  • Birthday Cake Shot – Love the idea of having an eye-catching drink that doubles as décor? Look no further!
  • Kamikaze Shot – Another classic that may kick up college memories (and perfect for current students, too) this tangy shot is also made with just three ingredients.
  • Virgin Shirley Temple – If you are participating in Dry January or want something non-alcoholic (but still attractive) to serve, go for this sweet and fizzy Shirley Temple.
