A bright and sunny cocktail, the Vodka Pineapple marries pineapple and lime juice together for a tart and refreshing tipple.

There are so many simple and delectable cocktails in the world that oftentimes we don’t know who or where they came from. Some recipes and their mixologists are so famous that books have been written about them. Others seem like a “no-brainer”, for lack of a better phrase. Meaning that, if you don’t do it, somebody else will. For example, a Grapefruit Martini has been spotted on a number of menus across the country in my travels, but when I look up who invented it, nobody knows. My guess is that a few different bartenders had the same idea in different parts of the world, and something like that just naturally evolved from the other cocktails that they’re based on.
Tonight’s drink seems to be in that family. The Vodka Pineapple is an easy mixture, comprised of vodka, and both pineapple and lime juices, shaken together and served up in a long-stemmed coupe or martini glass. Some folks have said they first encountered this concoction while on vacation in Maui, but that’s as specific as it gets. This is one of those tipples, like I mentioned above, that was just willed into existence almost.
When a cocktail is as good as the Pineapple Vodka, and nobody’s around to invent it, well, sometimes a drink just has to invent itself.
What Is The Best Vodka To Use In A Vodka Pineapple?
You can try a few different types of vodka in your Vodka Pineapple. I’ll usually proclaim that, because of a drink’s other ingredients, like this cocktail’s use of pineapple and lime juices, an unflavored vodka is the best choice to achieve a balanced and sharp beverage. This recipe also benefits from a sweeter, vanilla-flavored one, too. Combined with the fruit juices, the vanilla spirit adds an extra bit of creaminess to each sip.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces vodka
- 3 ounces pineapple juice
- 1 ounce lime juice
- 1 pineapple wedge for garnish, optional
- 1 lime wheel for garnish, optional
Instructions

Similar Drinks To The Vodka Pineapple
Vodka is one of the best spirits you can build a cocktail with. Like Marcus Brody couldn’t do in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the clear and crisp liquor blends in, almost disappearing in many of the drinks it is mixed into. The bite is still there, but vodka helps accentuate the flavors of the other ingredients it swims with. Try some of these other tipples out for more examples.
