Spicy, sweet and jiggly, the Fireball Jell-O Shot is a party favorite with a cinnamon kick.

It was an exclusive event, invite only. As the helicopter landed to drop me off, I began to worry. Before me was nothing but miles and miles of the icy and desolate Arctic. As the chopper disappeared into the air, leaving me alone on this windy, snowy field, I wondered if I had RSVP’d to a prank.

Overhead, the Northern Lights danced and shimmered, their green glow casting an eerie tint over the white and frosty landscape. I started to shiver, fearing I should’ve worn more than a tuxedo under my ultra-stylish BOGNER ski suit. Despite being alone, I continued to maintain an exterior that was just as cool as my surroundings.

The happy jingling of bells was suddenly heard behind me, and I spun to see two massive reindeer pulling an ornate and inviting-looking sleigh. At the reins, a jolly old bearded fellow was laughing at the sight of me. Around him were cozy blankets, and little shelves that held trays of cakes and hot steaming mugs of chocolaty decadence. My mouth began to water as the dreamlike aroma reached my nose. The jolly fellow chuckled, shaking his head a little. “Here for the party?”

I nodded vigorously, my teeth chattering and clacking together like a wind-up novelty toy. The bearded chap turned and pulled out a pair of brand-new cross-country skis, dropping them before me. Before I could ask, he then handed me a tray of little cups, all of them filled with jiggling red Jell-O. Without thinking, I immediately slurped one down. And then another.

Just as I suspected, these were Jell-O shots, but not just any Jell-O shots. The fiery and spiced punch of whiskey that accompanied the fruity flavor meant these warming treats were a special recipe… Fireball Jell-O Shots.

With a whistle and a shout, the sleigh began to ride forward, its boisterous driver bellowing at me to follow. Frantically gathering up the skis and the remaining Fireball Jell-O Shots—but not before gulping another—I began to trudge after the jangling bells, off towards whatever party the Arctic had in store for me. Thankfully, the shots had warmed me up enough that I was ready for any snowy adventure this night might throw my way.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In Fireball Jell-O Shots?

The best spirit you can use in a Fireball Jell-O Shot is Fireball Cinnamon Whisky. There are other similarly-flavored alternatives out there, but Fireball is easy to find and won’t put a huge dent in your budget, either. Hot, but not too sweet, many folks have compared the flavor to Atomic Warhead or Red Hot candy.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH IS USED?

This style of shooter is often prepared and served in little disposable cups, and sometimes to-go dip containers with a lid. You can also use regular shot glasses if you have enough handy. And if you do, where do you keep them all? For garnish, pop a maraschino cherry on top of each shot.

CAN YOU USE OTHER FLAVORS OF JELL-O IN THIS RECIPE?

You can play around with the many different varieties of Jell-O and gelatin that are available, but be aware that not all of them play nicely with the fiery cinnamon flavor of the Fireball.
