Start your summer with the fruity, sweet, and bubbly Lychee Spritz.

In many places across the world, folks can feel summer approaching as the spring months tease them with comfortable temperatures. But here in Los Angeles, we’ve had a pretty hot summer since February. And while we tend to have beautiful weather all year round, these past few months have required pool time after an honest day’s work in the sun.
One day, a few months back, it had reached upwards of 90 degrees… Hot, to say the least. I’m not complaining, because honestly, it could always be hotter. And as the sweat dripped down and the shovels continued shoveling—we were landscaping—all my buddy and I could think of was an ice cold drink. Preferably of the boozy variety, which always helps to soothe aching, middle-aged muscles.
Back at home, where the pool currently stood empty and in a state of repair (remember, this was still in the winter, technically), we wasted no time in grabbing ice cubes, chilled glasses, and whatever thirst-quencher tickled our fancy. My friend prefers a simple and classic oat soda—or beer—and I opted for something a little bouncier, shall we say. After a quick walk around the corner to the store, I was soon crafting a carbonated concoction, perfect for a winter’s summer’s day… The Lychee Spritz combined the sweet, tart, and floral flavor of the lychee fruit with the nose-tickling bubbles of prosecco and club soda.
The pool may be closed, but after a few of these relaxing tipples, I quickly forgot all about it.
What is the best alcohol to use in a Lychee Spritz?
Lychee liqueur and prosecco are the alcoholic elements you’ll need to craft a Lychee Spritz for you and your friends. Both Soho and Giffard make a lychee liqueur that is fairly easy to find at your local liquor store. For the prosecco, choose a dry style, as this will help your spritz offer a balanced flavor that is not too sweet on the finish.

Ingredients
- 2 ounces lychee liqueur
- 3 ounces prosecco
- 2 ounces club soda
- 1 fresh lychee peeled and pitted, for garnish
- 1 lime slice for garnish
Instructions
- Fill a large wine glass with ice. Pour the lychee liqueur over the ice, then slowly add the prosecco.

- Slowly top with the club soda.

- Gently stir once to combine the ingredients. Garnish with a fresh lychee and a lime slice.

What glassware and garnish are used?
Fill a large and long-stemmed wine glass with ice, mix your drink in, and then garnish with a fresh lime slice and a peeled, pitted lychee on top.
Why is club soda used?
Topping your Lychee Spritz with club soda will lighten—or “soften”—the alcohol taste in it, helping to make it a bubbly and bright beverage.
