An enticing mix of Irish cream, butterscotch and cinnamon flavors, the Oatmeal Cookie Shot is another crowd-pleaser for your recipe collection.

Can a cookie be a cocktail? Of course not. But also, yes. Am I trying to confuse you on purpose? Or am I just being cryptic and mysterious, like a bearded wizard in ancient robes, annoying people at the back of a liquor store and then being asked to leave? I could potentially be guilty of all these things, and then some. Maybe I’m just asking a rhetorical question. But it still stands: Can a cookie be a cocktail?

Tonight’s recipe just might be able to put that query to rest. The Oatmeal Cookie Shot tastes exactly like its name suggests. Some Irish cream liqueur, butterscotch and cinnamon schnapps shaken together over ice and served in a chilled shot glass certainly doesn’t have any actual cookies in it—unless you garnish the rim with crumbs—but once that smooth potion runs past your lips, the flavor is unmistakable.

I was joking a little earlier when I mentioned being a wizard and whatnot. But in all honesty, the mixologist who first thought to add these components together and wound up with an elixir that does indeed taste like a liquid, and boozy, oatmeal cookie, truly crafted some magic. Nobody knows who first served these sweet and easy-to-drink treats, and we may never find out. But we shouldn’t let that stop us from enjoying them.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In An Oatmeal Cookie Shot?

When it comes to picking the ingredients that go into this drink, your eye might automatically go toward the more well-known brands on the store shelves. For the Irish cream, Baileys is a reliable choice, and for very good reasons. You can combine the creamy, sweet bite of Baileys with other stalwarts, such as DeKuyper’s Buttershots or Dr. McGillicuddy’s for the butterscotch schnapps. For the cinnamon, a bottle of Goldschläger not only adds those fiery notes, but also has 24-karat gold flakes floating around in it. There are other options available, and it’s really all up to how much you want to spend.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH ARE USED?

Chill a shot glass in the freezer for up to thirty minutes if you’d like an extra cold and smooth shooter. Garnish the rim with fine oatmeal cookie crumbs if you like.

IS THIS A GOOD WINTER RECIPE?

Yes, this is an excellent shot to enjoy during the chilly seasons, especially around the holidays. The butterscotch and cinnamon notes are often abundant at that time of year, and I’m sure Santa would love a few when he comes to visit.
