If you want to get your next party started quickly, you’ll need a big bowl of Party Punch.

In an episode of one of my favorite cartoons, Regular Show, the characters of Mordecai and Rigby throw a party. People begin to show up to the house they live in, at the center of a large public park that they work at. But they have a problem… Their party is lame. So they order a guy off a television commercial named Party Pete.

Party Pete is an epic amalgam of everything cool from the 1980s; Miami Vice-esque clothing, shutter shades, a German accent to accompany the synth heavy music he dances to. Party Pete really got the room going… until Mordecai and Rigby started giving him cans of RadiCola from the 1984 Olympics. I don’t want to give the end away, but it involves an explosion. Highly recommended.

Anyway, you don’t need Party Pete to get your shindig shindigging, all you need is to know how to make tonight’s drink, the Party Punch.

The best part about this recipe is you can enjoy it without any alcohol. So if you’re watching your kids as they’re throwing a birthday or Christmas party, either at home or at school, this is a fantastic fizzy and fruity drink that can easily be made in big batches.

And if you’re having a more adult gathering, you can simply add any spirit of your choice to liven things up. And an exploding Party Pete won’t ever be an issue. Unless you give him RadiCola.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A Party Punch?

While our recipe doesn’t mention any alcohol, you can add whatever you like to this mixture, adjusting the amount to taste and potency. Many punch-style drinks often use vodka or light rum, as they mix nicely with the other flavors, sometimes even “hiding” amongst them. Champagne or sparkling wine is a great substitute for the ginger ale. For a more Christmas-like flavor, you can use a spiced rum.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH IS USED?

You’ll need a large punchbowl to mix and serve your Party Punch. Most of them are sold in a set that includes a number of cups, as well as a ladle. Without these, your guests might be drinking this beverage out of their hands. We can’t have that.

WHAT CAN YOU USE IF YOU DON’T HAVE A PUNCHBOWL?

If you don’t have a punchbowl, or don’t feel like asking your grandmother to borrow hers, you can use a large lemonade pitcher to mix up and pour out your Party Punch.

Other Big Batch Drinks You Can Serve To Large Groups
