In the mood for something short, sweet and tart? The White Tea Shot fits the bill.

As myself, my friends and family get older, we’ve really gotten into drinking tea. Not necessarily in the classic British tradition of an afternoon break accompanied by cucumber sandwiches, but more in the vein of winding down after a trying day, or a healthy alternative to a few fingers of whiskey and a vodka cocktail. Sometimes though, the leaves at the bottom of my cup tell me to make a boozy treat.
Tonight’s recipe is the White Tea Shot, a not-too-distant relative of the Green Tea Shot. And like its brethren, the White Tea Shot has no tea in it whatsoever, nor does it bring any health benefits to the party. Just some vodka, peach schnapps and sweet ‘n’ sour mix topped with a little Sprite, or 7-Up. Or you can try some of that Starry stuff I’m seeing everywhere now. Club soda works too, if you want a drier citrus flavor. And less sugar. But we’re indulging ourselves today, so crack open that soda, why not?
Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting that instead of drinking actual tea you only imbibe booze. Not at all. I’m all about moderation, in fact. But some days, you just need to give yourself permission to have a few strong and spiky White Tea Shots instead. Just because. You never need a reason to allow yourself to have a little fun.
Invite a few friends over, throw on a Muppet movie and knock back a few White Tea Shots. It’ll be one of those special, ordinary days that’s long remembered.
What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A White Tea Shot?
I used an organic rye vodka for my shots. The crisp and clear spirit mixed smoothly with the tart notes and sweetness from the always reliable DeKuyper’s Peachtree schnapps. You can also make these shooters with a citron vodka for a more flavorful experience.

Ingredients
- 1/2 ounce vodka
- 1/2 ounce peach schnapps
- 1/2 ounce sweet and sour mix
- A splash of lemon-lime soda
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, combine vodka, peach schnapps, and sweet and sour mix with ice.

- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds until the mixture is well chilled.

- Strain the chilled mixture into a shot glass and top it off with a splash of lemon-lime soda.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH IS USED?
Chill some shot glasses in your freezer for about thirty minutes before preparing your White Tea shooters. After straining the cocktail mixture into the glasses, splash the top with soda and add a little lemon wedge on the rim of each if you like.
CAN YOU UPSCALE THE WHITE TEA SHOT INTO A COCKTAIL?
Yes, just increase the amount to about an ounce and a half for each ingredient, then eyeball the amount of soda you’d like. I served mine on the rocks in a collins glass.
