Creamy, sweet and subtly fruity, the Brandy Milk Punch is the perfect libation for a chilly evening by the fire.

The leaves had begun to fall. Not much yet, mind you, but every day a few more slowly floated from their branches to the ground. All around were the towering snowcapped peaks of the mountains that nestled this valley, rocky swathes of white and gray jutting skyward. The lush summer greenery was giving way to multicolored reds and oranges. As if time was slowly coloring the trees around our cottage.
A subtle brisk nip was now in the air, especially in the mornings and at night. As such, it was my yearly task to begin to gather the firewood, and keep the hearth cozy and warm. As the sun began to sink, a little earlier every day now, I made sure some fresh logs were ready in the fireplace. When the sky gave way to the deep purple of evening, smoke was curling out of the chimney, filling the air with an inviting woodsy scent.
And as we settled into our comfy chairs, our latest books ready to be cracked open for a night of relaxed reading, we quickly realized something was missing. A drink. And tonight we decided the fruity, creamy and sweet Brandy Milk Punch would help fill our bones with an extra comforting warmth. Like the days of old when we’d enjoy a glass of milk before bedtime, yet now ours is on the rocks, and filled with brandy.
As the day ends and our eyes begin to droop from drowsiness, our books and empty glasses are put away, ready for tomorrow, along with another languid stretch of taking it easy.
What is the best brandy to use in a Brandy Milk Punch?
I’ve become fairly enamored with the various types and styles of brandy that Korbel produces, right here in the great state of California. The more cost-effective bottles are fantastic for mixing into cocktails, such as the VSOP and XS, while the higher-shelf aged versions, like the 12, 18 and 25 year products, are quite amazing on their own when served straight up. Distilled from California grapes, their brandy also features a wide array of notes, like vanilla, butterscotch, orange essence and other infusions depending on what you choose.

Ingredients
