The Mini Beer Shot, which tastes more like a mini milkshake than a beer, is the perfect celebratory drink for any occasion.

Despite its name and appearance, the tasty Mini Beer shot does not contain lager. Made with Licor 43 and heavy cream, this shot tastes like a vanilla, slightly citrus milkshake. The main ingredient, Licor 43, is a Spanish golden liqueur made of forty-three ingredients to create a warm, unique taste. The Zamora family of Cartagena in Spain created Licor 43 in 1946 to emulate the idea of a historic forbidden elixir.
I have served this Mini Beer shot from behind the bar in Manhattan and Las Vegas, and it almost always turns heads. Why are we knocking our tiny glasses of beer together and pounding them like a shot? It is cute but also has a fun, secretive aspect. Just like the Baby Guinness it looks like a little beer, but it tastes more like the Birthday Cake shot.
Speaking of birthdays, the Mini Beer shot is the perfect go-to for a birthday celebration, a new job, or an “I’m so happy to see you” cheer. With Licor 43 containing only 31% ABV and the drink mixed with heavy cream, you will enjoy yourself, but you won’t stumble out of the party as you would with tequila shots. Even better, if you are hosting the party and playing bartender, the Mini Beer shot is super simple – just two ingredients!
What is the Best Alcohol to Use to Make a Mini Beer Shot?
There is not much wiggle room with the alcohol in the Mini Beer shot. Licor 43 is the main ingredient, made with 43 botanicals, herbs, and spices to create a unique flavor that is difficult to replicate. Luckily, it is affordable and easy to find. Like, here on Long Island, I found it at a few liquor stores within 10 miles. However, if you are in a pinch and happen to find Tuaca you can use that in your Mini Beer shot too.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 ounces Licor 43 chilled

Instructions
- Chill the Licor 43 in the refrigerator or stir it with ice in a mixing glass.
- Pour the chilled Licor 43 into a shot glass up to about three-quarters full.
- Gently pour the heavy cream over the back of a spoon to layer it on top of the Licor 43, forming a ‘foam head’ that looks like beer.
