A classic combo of flavors joins the party with these delicious Orange Creamsicle Jell-O Shots.

Orange creamsicle Jell-O shots in plate diagonal shot

My friend Christy is one of the greatest human beings to have ever existed. She really is just the absolute best. Completely selfless, generous, and at the drop of a hat has got your back. I work with a contractor, another buddy, and at the end of every week, a whole gaggle of us will sit around his back patio table, have a drink or two and soothe our aching bodies from the days before. And Christy will usually come over with some kind of special treat.

On St. Paddy’s Day, she gifted all of us grubby, cranky boys with special booze-infused green cupcakes. Some of them are still in the beer fridge in the garage, waiting for a late-night munch, one that will get you very inebriated. Yup, she’s that kind of baker, the cool kind. And Christy will also often have a themed tray of shots ready to share.

Like tonight’s recipe, for example. Orange Creamsicle Jell-O Shots are not only delicious and easy to gulp down, but they look just as appetizing. Some folks might wonder, why go through all the trouble of prepping these jiggly, fun distractions in this way? Why not just serve them in little shot glasses or cups? Well, my answer is, why not? The presentation in many a mixed, alcoholic drink or batch of Jell-O shots is half the experience, in my humble opinion. Imagine ordering a Vesper Martini and having it served to you in a red Solo cup or something like that. It wouldn’t be as enjoyable, would it?

For something like these Orange Creamsicle Jell-O Shots, take a page out of my friend Christy’s book and indulge in the creativity that goes into whipping these memorable little slurpers up.

What is the best vodka to use in Orange Creamsicle Jell-O Shots?

The ideal style of vodka to use when crafting these citrusy and creamy treats is a vanilla-flavored one. Especially if you’re opting not to add the condensed milk to your batch. The vanilla notes meld harmoniously with the orange elements, one of the reasons why Creamsicles are so popular during the hot summer months, and will result in a balanced and boozy grown-up snack.

What glassware and garnish are used?

Just follow the recipe’s instructions to ensure you end up with the perfect orange rind bowls that are filled with your Jell-O shots, then top with a dollop of whipped cream. You can also make these in disposable or glass serving cups.

What is the best way to store these shots?

Once you’ve finished pouring your mixture into their molds, keep them in your refrigerator overnight to ensure they are properly set. Keep them chilled in there until you’re ready to serve, and put any leftover shots back in the fridge to have them stay cool and fresh.
