This heavenly tropical Scooby Snack Shot includes whipped cream and an undeniable dose of youthful fun.

Like most of you, I assumed this Scooby Snack Shot was named after the beloved children’s show Scooby-Doo. However there are a fair few people who say it may be named after a Japanese doctor, Dr. Nishiwaki Scooby who promoted the idea that fresh food, like pineapple and coconut, as well as liquor, can be beneficial to your health. That said, there are also a number of claims of people taking credit for the Scooby Snack Shot, supposedly naming it after the cartoon and noting that the green hue of the Mystery Machine matches the drink. Whatever the real story is, I’m here for it. I am all about holistic health, nostalgic shows, and fun shots, so I’m excited to share this recipe with you.
The Scooby Snack Shot can immediately transport you to a Caribbean swim-up bar in your mind. It has the flavors of an icy, creamy Piña Colada with the unique flavor and color of a Midori Sour. My first experience at a swim-up bar was in Cancún, Mexico when I was 18, which is the legal drinking age over there. I ordered countless Midori Coladas, which is a Piña Colada with Midori, a Japanese melon liqueur. This Scooby Snack Shot literally tastes just like that, without making you feel so full, and gives you total vacation vibes.
Heavy Cream, In A Shot?
Now, I know you might be a little skeptical about adding heavy cream to your Scooby Snack Shot, or any cocktail for that matter, but there is good reason. The most important is that heavy cream is less likely to curdle than many other dairy products when mixed in a cocktail since it has a higher fat content and is therefore more stable. It also adds a richness that is unmatched and a perfect creamy flavor and texture. For best results with your Scooby Snack Shot add the heavy cream last and shake well.
What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A Scooby Snack Shot?
For my Scooby Snack Shot, I used Malibu Rum, which is my go-to for tropical drinks. You can also use Parrot Bay or Bacardi Coconut. As for the melon liqueur I like Midori, the OG of Japanese melon liqueur. However, you can use any brand, like Llord’s or Mr. Boston for your Scooby Snack Shot, just be sure it is that same pretty green color.
