Bring your friends together with some dessert-like and delicious Pudding Shots.

My mother had a massive collection of cookbooks in the kitchen, and a rather large Rolodex of recipes, too. Our cuisine was usually pretty good, hearty and healthy, but those shelves of cookbooks were a mystery to me. I never saw my mom crack any of them open, and whatever she made at mealtime always seemed to come from memory. She didn’t pass that talent down, unfortunately. Whenever I’m playing Gordon Ramsay over a stove, I will usually be following instructions from his website or one of his books.

One day I was uncharacteristically bored, and I found myself just wandering through the house, poking around and keeping myself entertained with the randomness of just milling about and doing nothing. I pulled out what looked to be an ancient tome of spells, but it turned out to be a collection of famous and popular recipes from The New York Times. After skimming for a bit, I ran across a Boozy Mousse Pie from 1970, which some say was the primary inspiration for tonight’s drink.

Pudding Shots are a creamy and tasty blend of Irish cream liqueur and vodka, stirred and mixed with Cool Whip, milk, and chocolate pudding. While you have to plan ahead a little to prepare these, once they’re ready to serve, you’ll soon discover they are very easy to knock back.

And the big taste these little dessert shooters have will make you imbibe more than just one.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use For Pudding Shots?

If you’ve looked at your home bar and can’t seem to find what you need to craft this fun recipe, it might be time to take a walk to the liquor store and stock up. We’ll want some Irish cream liqueur, and a bottle of Baileys or Five Farms should be easy enough to find, and excellent choices to boot. For the vodka, you can use an unflavored spirit, or for a little extra sweetness, a chocolate or vanilla-infused one.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH ARE USED?

You can use shot glasses if you have enough, but small disposable shot cups are ideal for this recipe, especially if you’re serving them to a large group and need a hefty number. Serve with chocolate sprinkles or shavings on top.

CAN YOU USE OTHER PUDDING FLAVORS FOR THIS SHOT?

Yes. Instead of chocolate, you can use vanilla, butterscotch, banana cream, strawberry or any flavor that you prefer.
