Looking for a fun treat at brunch? The Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot will have you singing the cereal’s jingle.

The best days were always Saturdays. Even though you didn’t have to go to school or do any homework, you jumped out of bed early, plopped down in front of the television and settled in for a blissful block of hours full of Saturday morning cartoons, a ritual that has since been lost to time. Flipping between the three big networks, catching your favorite shows and being just as entertained by the memorable (and possibly brainwashing) commercials was all part and parcel to being a kid in the 1970s, 80s or 90s. And the meal of choice was a big bowl of a colorful and way too sugary breakfast cereal.
Tonight’s recipe takes its inspiration from a Saturday morning stalwart that still thrives today, the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot. Anyone who grew up with the weekly tradition of cartoons and commercials can hear that classic jingle in their head whenever they see a box of said cereal or the name of this shot. And the plump, animated chefs that adorned the box welcomed all of us to indulge our sweet tooth as part of a not-so-balanced breakfast. I’m not the most nostalgic person, or at least I didn’t used to be, but when I think back to those times I always crave a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch while binging episodes of Muppet Babies.
The shot we’re making involves a little cinnamon sugar garnish that helps bring the flavor of the classic cereal to life, but it’s the combination of RumChata and cinnamon whiskey that gives it the bite and resulting relaxation that us grown-ups require as the years go on. The block of animated favorites might not be a part of most of our lives anymore, but the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot can help keep those memories fondly alive.
My Saturday mornings are still filled with cartoons, which is probably no surprise to anyone.
What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot?
What really gives this shot that nostalgic flavor that reminds all of us grown kids of those cartoon-filled Saturday mornings is the mix of RumChata and cinnamon whiskey. A bottle of Fireball is a trendy and popular choice, found just about anywhere, and brings a sweet fire to every sip in whatever drink it is mixed with. RumChata, a creamy and spicy liqueur, helps add the sweetness, giving the shot a flavor reminiscent of a spoonful of milky, cinnamon toast flavored cereal.

CAN THIS BE MADE AS A FULL-SIZE COCKTAIL?
If you like, you can make this recipe as a larger beverage by scaling up the amounts used in equal parts, or going with more RumChata than whiskey. Play around with the ratios to see what tastes best.
