When you see a drink with a name like tonight’s recipe, do you smirk or blush? Or do you scoff and refuse to even consider imbibing it? Since there are already a decent number of alcoholic concoctions out there with randy handles, most folks who enjoy an adult beverage or two probably get a kick out of it. And the ones that don’t probably aren’t going out to the local watering hole anyway.

Now, because I’m the odd duck that I am, when I first saw the name of this evening’s recipe, the Pink Pussy Shot, my mind surprisingly did not go where you might’ve thought it would. No, I looked at the words “Pink Pussy” and immediately began to chuckle to myself… thinking of Inspector Jacques Clouseau. The bumbling and hapless detective from the Pink Panther movies and cartoons. Famously played by Peter Sellers, then later Alan Arkin, Steve Martin and even 007 himself Roger Moore, Clouseau always meant well, but disaster usually followed him wherever he went, to howlingly hilarious results.

Now, you can get dirty with your thinking when preparing this light and fruity little shooter, but for my own part, I popped on The Return of the Pink Panther, sipped on a few Pink Pussy Shots, all the while laughing my face off at Inspector Clouseau attempting to woo the lovely Catherine Schell with half of his fake moustache missing.

Seriously, Pink Pussy Shots and Pink Panther movies are a match made in cocktail heaven.

What Is The Best Alcohol To Use In A Pink Pussy Shot?

This easy-to-drink and delicious treat requires some peach schnapps and black raspberry liqueur. Choosing what to use should also be as simple as making some Pink Pussies for your friends, so don’t overthink it when you go shopping. There’s plenty of peach schnapps to choose from at good prices, like the original DeKuyper’s Peachtree. For the black raspberry, Chambord not only tastes good, but the bottle looks quite nice on your shelf.

WHAT GLASSWARE AND GARNISH ARE USED?

Chill some shot glasses in your freezer for at least 15 minutes before serving your Pink Pussies in them. You don’t really need any garnish, but if you’d like some extra citrus, pop a little lime wedge on the rim.

WHY IS THIS SHOT CALLED THE PINK PUSSY?

The trend of naming cocktails something naughty and suggestive is a well-traveled tradition, and a reminder that these are for adults only. While nobody knows where this recipe got its name from or who christened it, they probably weren’t thinking about the Pink Panther.
